The Mighty Marching Thorobreds brings energy and excitement to its audiences

For at least four student leaders in Kentucky State University’s marching band program, the band was a reason that they chose the Frankfort college.  KSU’s band, which is officially known as the Mighty Marching Thorobreds (MMT), performs at football game half-times, parades, festivals and more with a goal of entertaining their audience. The K-Rette Dance Team and the Silkette Flag Corps typically accompany the band’s performances.  This year, seniors Lord’Amani Cooper and Marlon Carter are the MMT’s drum majors. Life on Woodlake Farm: Hockensmith family continuing to work the land

Along Georgetown Road sits a farm with a storied history spanning more than 100 years.  Woodlake Farm is the recent home of members of the Hockensmith family. Mary Anne Hockensmith, formerly known as Mary Anne Noel, became the head of her family’s farm, Woodlake, in August 1941. At the time, she was 17. She was the oldest of three and both her parents died before she turned 18. Her guardian was William Crouse. Fitting right in to Frankfort: Diane Strong immerses herself, family into community

Diane Strong, a recent newcomer to Frankfort, says that the city is full of change. Strong, who is an active community volunteer, said that she and her family moved from Georgetown about a year and a half ago because it was hard to be involved with the town’s community.
